Six arcade racers that feel right on a touchscreen

Arcade racing lives or dies by its controls, and on a phone that's harder than it sounds. After weeks of testing I've got firm opinions about what works. Short version: give me responsive drift boosts and readable tracks over fancy graphics every time.

Neon Drift League leads my list because the drift chaining feels so good. But I also want to talk about control schemes generally. Tilt steering looks cool in demos and falls apart on a moving bus. On-screen buttons are less glamorous but far more reliable, and the best games let you switch.

My advice: spend the first three races finding your control setup before you judge a racer. A game that felt clumsy at first often turns out to be fine once you swap steering modes.

Track length matters too. The best mobile racers keep circuits short so you can fit a race into a coffee break. Anything over three minutes a lap starts to feel like homework on a phone.
